Mission
“Being involved with the Chesed Committee has enriched my life
and given me the opportunity to meet and work with many congregants who have
shared in our mission of creating and fostering a caring community for our
Temple Beth Shalom family. The phrase “it takes a village” truly resonates in
our temple where we all come together to celebrate, to seek comfort, hope and
support. There is strength and purpose for all of us when we provide Gemilut
Chasadim, acts of loving kindness individually and communally.” Margie
Glou.
As expressed in Temple Beth Shalom’s Vision Statement: "We are
a community of chesed – compassionate outreach. We care deeply about one
another, rejoicing in each other’s simchas and reaching out to support one
another in times of need. Together we help to nurture belonging, resilience, and
shleimut – wholeness in our lives.” The Chesed or Caring groups of TBS help
organize these efforts by providing members of our temple family the opportunity
to reach out and offer assistance. If you enjoy helping people and want
specific, goal-oriented, time-limited tasks, choose from among the many arms of
chesed and begin making a difference, one person at a time.
