Family Table

Jewish Family & Children’s Service Family Table has grown dramatically in scope and breadth since its inception, helping 40 families in 1993 to over 200 needy families in Greater Boston. Families served include low-income families, isolated seniors, disabled adults, unemployed, and the working poor. With the donations of food from 48 collection sites such as Temple Beth Shalom, JF&CS Family Table currently provides kosher food, fresh produce, dairy products, meats, Jewish ritual and holiday items each month.

In addition to monthly groceries, Family Table provides emergency food orders to individuals upon request. Emergency food is supplied on a one-time basis, although many emergency clients become monthly recipients once they qualify for assistance.

If Someone You Know Needs Help. . .

The families and individuals who may benefit from JF&CS Family Table are referred by social workers, rabbis and other community representatives or they may apply for assistance without a referral. Applications can be obtained by calling JF&CS Center for Family Assistance at 781-647-JFCS (5327).

Eligible candidates may also qualify for additional services provided by the Center for Family Assistance (CFA) or other JF&CS programs. All information supplied to CFA and Family Table is strictly confidential.

Our synagogue is partnered with JF&CS Family Table and we have made the commitment to collect 90 cans of tuna fish every month. Once a year our temple provides volunteer drivers to pack and deliver groceries to pantry clients. Our collection bins are located in both the atrium and the hall outside the religious school office. Please help us fulfill our commitment to Family Table by bringing individual cans or better yet multipacks of tuna when you come to the temple. Children are encouraged to bring a tuna when coming to attend religious school. Help us make a difference in the lives of those in need by feeding the hungry in our community.
