About Us
Beth Shalom Garden Club was formed by a group of Temple members with a
shared interest in flowers and gardening. The club is open to all.
The objectives of BSGC are to promote an interest in flower arranging,
gardening, horticulture, conservation and allied activities. Being an
“arm” of Temple Beth Shalom we lend our creativity to enhancing various
Temple events and holidays throughout the year. The most visible
examples of our work are the weekly sanctuary flower arrangements.
We
present programs and workshops designed to educate and inform us either
through hands-on learning experiences, demonstrations and field trips,
or featuring speakers who are experts in their particular area of
interest.
Many of our members, both experienced and novice, participate in
judged Design Competitions at regional flower shows each year. We are
represented annually at “Art in Bloom” at the Museum of Fine Arts in
Boston.
Here are some of the things we do:
- We meet each month with a speaker or have a workshop
- We learn about flowers, flower arranging, horticulture and gardening
- We design arrangements for Shabbat and Holidays
- We have an annual fundraiser where everyone participates
- We bring a program to local school
- We beautify Needham’s Viet Nam Memorial each May
- We participate in flower show competitions
- We attend regional symposiums and workshops
