Youth Choir
The TBS Youth Choir is made up of enthusiastic singers in grades 3-5.
This year there are 27 kids participating in the choir, and we welcome new
members at any time.
Our repertoire includes a variety of traditional
Shabbat songs as well as many other Hebrew and English melodies by composers
such as Debbie Friedman, Craig Taubman, Rich Recht, Lisa Levine, and Jeff
Klepper. There are opportunities for part-singing, solos, and instrument playing
as well.
Through participation in the Youth Choir, our kids develop a
love for Jewish music, create special friendships, and strengthen their
connection to TBS and the larger Jewish community. They stretch themselves
musically while having a lot of fun performing and celebrating with each other.
We sing monthly at the congregational Simchat Shabbat service on the
first Friday of every month (in April, the second Friday.) In addition, we
participate in several other services and events. This year they have included
Shabbat Alive with Rick Recht, the Rick Recht community-wide concert, TBS
Chanukah celebration, Needham’s celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the
Boston area Zimriyah (Reform Jewish youth choir festival,) and the TBS Purim
Shpiel.
We rehearse every Sunday between Religious School sessions,
10:45-11:15.
There is no audition required for the TBS Youth Choir. For
more information, or to join, contact the director, Emily Perlman, at ebpharmony@aol.com.
