Social Action

Our community - as a whole and in smaller groups - regularly engages in the work of helping those who are in need. To help focus our community efforts, our congregational Social Action outreach is directed towards three important causes/organizations that help to feed the hungry, provide for the homeless, and support the learning of children. On the left you will find a button that describes each of these.  As well, below, you will find other congregational Social Action programs.

Please consider how you and your family might help us make a difference!

Volunteering

TBS "Tikkun Olam Weekend"

While social action is essential every day, annually our community comes together to focus our energies during a special weekend of community service. Join us as we participate in the Boston Walk for Hunger, volunteer at the Greater Boston Food Bank, volunteer at Cradles to Crayons, and many other activities for all ages that help those in need.  Information about “Tikkun Olam Weekend” will be announced several weeks prior to the weekend.

Preparing Meals on Christmas Day

Every year, the TBS community engages in a program that we call Project Ezra.  Over 100 hot, delicious meals are prepared, packages, and hand-delivered to those who are in need.  Close to 100 TBS members and families are involved in this deeply meaningful effort.

Project Ezra is funded through the TBS Feldman Outreach Fund and is coordinated in partnership with the Needham Community Council.  For more information and to participate, please contact Lois Sockol at lsockol@comcast.net.

Woman Donating Blood

Brotherhood Blood Drive

Every December, the TBS Brotherhood proudly sponsors our Red Cross blood drive. Please join us in performing the mitzvah of giving blood!  As a community, we annually contribute over 100 units of blood. According to the American Red Cross, ours is one of most successful blood drives on their calendar.  We provide bagels & lox, juice, and other sweets for all donors. Each year, we are in need of donors and volunteers.
