Project EZRA - Thank you

The sky was clear and promising on Christmas morning when Anne Braunstein and June Atkind met me at The Needham Community Council at 7:30 a.m. We had come to transport the thirteen turkeys cooked and donated by Roche Brothers. It was a short, maybe 5 minute drive, to Temple Beth Shalom of Needham where volunteers were waiting to begin preparations for 113 appetizing Christmas Dinners to be delivered to Needham residents.

Several Temple Beth Shalom volunteers carved the turkeys, others peeled 75 pounds of potatoes for mashing, still others cooked mixed vegetables and gravy, prepared stuffings, and portioned out cranberry sauce. Outside the kitchen doors still more volunteers assembled the bags for delivery. When all was complete, the final group of Temple volunteers arrived, many with children in hand, to deliver the Christmas meals to the homes of Needham residents many of whom are traditionally served by Needham’s comprehensive Traveling Meals program.

The partnership forged by Temple Beth Shalom of Needham, Needham Community Council, and Roche Brothers has enabled Project Ezra to provided Christmas Dinners since the mid 1980’s. It is a partnership that strengthens and thrives to the benefit of all.

Temple Beth Shalom’s Project EZRA committee wishes to sincerely thank all the helping hands and generous hearts that enabled the delivery of meals and Joy this Christmas Day.
