High Holy Day registration is now open! Here is a sample of just some of our offerings:
Rosh Hashanah Morning Community Service
Saturday, September 19, 10:30 am
Our Rosh Hashanah Morning Community Service (formerly “The TBS Sanctuary Service”) will feature the beauty of traditional melodies, contemporary song to stir the soul, and prayers that will move us to nurture lives of blessing. While we will be experiencing the Holy Days in our homes, our Community Service for Rosh Hashanah morning - Led by Rabbi Jay Perlman, Rabbi Julie Bressler, and Cantorial Soloist DJ Fortine - has been created to enable us to feel the warmth and spirit of our TBS community.
Rosh Hashanah Morning Family Service
Saturday, September 19, 10:30 am
Our Rosh Hashanah Morning Family Service (formerly "The Rashi Theater Service”) is a blending of prayer, song, reflection, and Torah for adults, teens, and children roughly 3rd grade and above. This service is perfect for multi-generational families; it will be accessible to children while being engaging for adults. Led by Rabbi Todd Markley and Emily Perlman on guitar, this service uses a creative High Holy Day prayer book and, this year, will include new ways for us to learn from - and celebrate with - one another.
Kol Nidrei Evening Service
Sunday, September 27, 7:15 pm
The evening before Yom Kippur is called Kol Nidrei. It is named for the powerful prayer of the same name that is featured at the start of our Yom Kippur Evening Service. This prayer focuses on promises made and promises yet-to-be-made and moves us to consider how our decisions at this season help shape the direction of our lives and our relationships. Our Kol Nidrei service sets a meaningful tone for the Yom Kippur prayer and reflection that we will offer on this holiest of days.
High Holy Day Customs and Music of the Sephardic Jews
Monday, September 28, 2:00 pm
Join with Rabbi Sonsino for an engaging and informative learning session. Sephardic Jews have unique and fascinating High Holy Day mores. In his presentation, Rabbi Sonsino - who was born and raised in Turkey - will share a number of these. As a special part of our program, he will play and sing some of the most meaningful music associated with this season. All materials will be in English. This program is open to everyone.
Spiritual Journey Program
Monday, September 28, 3:00 pm
Each year, several members of our TBS community share with us their Jewish journey. This program has become a favorite during the High Holy Days as we turn from learning from the stories of Torah to learning from the stories of each other’s lives. This program is a community favorite amongst all of our High Holy Day offerings.
Torah Reading from the Holocaust Scroll and Rabbinic Teaching
Monday, September 28, 4:00 pm
The Yom Kippur Afternoon service provides an opportunity to reflect on our history and think about the messages that inspire us for the future. Each year, we bring added meaning to our High Holy Days by reading from our community’s precious Holocaust Torah scroll. Our Yom Kippur Afternoon service is made even more meaningful by words of teaching shared by Rabbi Julie Bressler.
