ConNEXTion's Mitzvah Day

We are excited to offer several volunteer opportunities to give back to our community by helping at one of three organizations… all on the same day!

  • Waypoint Adventure Winter Activities Support

  • Jewish Family & Children’s Services Family Table Program

  • Community Servings

For each Mitzvah Opportunity, a link is provided for registration. Please register for only one opportunity and note that the number of volunteers at each site is limited. If you are not available on February 17th or the slots are full, please do not worry. ConNEXTions is off to a strong start after our virtual Murder Mystery last spring, brunch at the Lookout Farm in this fall, and now our winter Mitzvah Day. There will be more events and gatherings scheduled soon!

Waypoint Adventure Winter Activities Support

9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Weston Ski Track, Weston

6 Volunteer slots available

Support individuals living with disabilities as they participate in winter activities.

What is Waypoint Adventure?

Waypoint Adventure works with individuals living with disabilities and uses quality experiential and adventure-based education programs to provide transformative experiences. We work with school groups, social service organizations, families, and individuals to offer custom designed adventures that meet the goals and objectives of that group or person. These programs are not just about having fun outdoors; they are about positive individual and group development. They are about building social and character skills, forming teams, and transforming people’s views of themselves and their abilities.

As a volunteer, what will you be doing?

Volunteers arrive at 9:00 am to help set up and do a pre-brief about the plan for the day. You will be helping participants, who will be coming in three shifts (10 am, 11:30 am, and 1 pm). During the pre-brief, you will learn who is coming and what supports they may need. The final shift of participants concludes at 2:30 pm. Volunteers wrap up and pack gear before leaving at 3:00 pm.

Volunteers have different roles. You don’t need to know how to ski, though we will certainly utilize those who are experienced skiers! Some volunteers are responsible for making sure gear is in order for participants, assisting with instruction, or walking beside a skier to assist them. If someone is using a sit ski, we would need a team of 3-4 people to push and rotate in and out.
