Journalism in Times of War and Peace - A Chat with Josef Federman, AP Bureau Chief for Israel and the Palestinian Territories
Monday March 4th, 7:30pm, at Temple Beth Shalom
Light refreshments will be served
Based in Jerusalem, AP Bureau Chief Josef Federman joins us in person for a unique and timely opportunity to share his perspective managing a team of Israeli and Palestinian journalists in times of war and peace. Recent and past events provide a perfect backdrop to hear Joe’s fascinating anecdotes of interviews with notable individuals and his ongoing fight for freedom of the press and journalistic integrity in the Middle East.
Joe leads a diverse team of journalists covering Israel, the West Bank and Gaza. He has been based in Jerusalem since 2003, covering the second intifada, the second Lebanon war, five wars in Gaza and more Israeli elections than he can count. For the past four and a half months, he has helped oversee coverage of the Oct. 7 Hamas attack and its aftermath in Israel as well as the ongoing Israeli military campaign in Gaza. He also covered the war in Ukraine and assignments in Europe, Washington and New York. Joe is originally from Westborough and his first job in journalism was at the Sudbury Town Crier.
