Judaism as Inspiration for Creating Art


A Gallery Visit and Discussion With Michael Bogdanow

TBS member Michael Bogdanow will speak at his “Imaginary Worlds” exhibit. Since the 1970s, Jewish themes have played a major part in Michael’s art, as seen atwww.MichaelBogdanow.com. The exhibit features his paintings as well as several very recent sculptures created from his unique integration of semi-precious stone chips, wood, motors, acrylic paint, and other materials. The discussion will explore the use of Judaism as a source for creating art, and the themes of music, dance, humankind, and the cosmos in Michael’s paintings and sculptures. Michael has a B.A. from Brandeis in Studio Art, an M.F.A. from Columbia in Painting and Sculpture, and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. The exhibit runs from Sept. 5 to Sept. 29, with an opening reception on Sunday, September 8th from 4:00-6:00 pm.
