The Louis D. Brown Peace Institute’s Mother's Day Walk for Peace is a beloved Boston tradition and celebration of the potential to create more peaceful communities. Join us in fundraising activities to honor the survivors and memory of family members who have been victims of homicide. The money raised helps to provide many important resources to support family members and heal communities.
TBS Tzedek is joining with First Parish in Needham Unitarian-Universalist Church and Temple Aliyah to support LDBPI in the 25th anniversary of the walk celebrated over 25 days from April 5-May 9. In the spirit of our collective values of peace and justice, we invite the Needham community to participate in these events as a fundraiser to support LDBPI:
Sunday April 11, 10:30-11:30am. Sunday service on Zoom featuring LDBPI founder Tina Chéry (mother of Louis D. Brown) and staff. No registration necessary. Just join by zoom link.
Monday April 12, 11:00-11:40pm. Join us on Zoom with our yoga teacher, Stephanie Javaheri, who will lead a midday light yoga, breathing, and meditation with a focus on renewal and peace.
Monday April 26, 7:30-8:30pm. Moonlight Peace Walk at Cutler Park. Meet Randi Lite at Cutler Parking lot for an easy walk around the lake to view sunset and moonrise.
Sunday May 2, 4:30-5:30pm. Spring Contemplative Walk. Meet Becky Siebens at Ridge Hill Reservation for a spring contemplative walk with a focus on peaceful connections with nature.
Monday May 3, 7:00-8:15pm. Israeli Dance. Meet Emily Perlman, Israeli dance instructor, at the Temple Beth Shalom (in Needham) parking lot to learn Israeli dance, which has much symbolism and graceful movement.
Sunday May 9, 9:00-10:00am. Mother’s Day Peace Walk Ceremonies via Zoom. No registration necessary. Go to https://www.mothersdaywalk4peace.org/ to livestream. Join the Tzedek Needham Mother’s Day Walk Team. Go to bit.ly/2021TzedekLDBPIWalkRegistration to register, and to donate if you choose to do so. When you register, choose "Tzedek Needham" in the drop-down menu which says "Credit this event registration to a fundraiser." TBS Tzedek, First Parish in Needham UU, and Temple Aliyah are honored to celebrate with LDBPI. We are walking virtually for Love, Unity, Faith, Hope, Courage, Justice, and Forgiveness - the values that the Peace Institute holds high for all communities.
