History of Modern Israel
Thursdays, February 29, March 7, 14 & 21
7:15-8:45 pm
The primary objective of our course is to help provide foundational knowledge about Israel’s modern history, particularly as it relates to the history of Zionism, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and what has occurred in the aftermath of October 7th. The interactive class will invite thoughtful discussion and will explore key source material. Participants will encounter important, oftentimes contrasting, viewpoints expressed by Israeli historical figures. The subjects include varying perspectives regarding the nature of Israel as a sovereign state, the peoples who inhabit the state, and its neighbors.
